• Once battery has been re-inserted and the phone is still powered off, press and hold the Up Volume key. Then press and hold the Home key and the Power key, whilst still pressing the up volume key.
• 
  When the Samsung logo appears on the screen release the buttons you're pressing.
• 
  Wait a minute or two until the Android man appears.
• 
  A menu will now appear.
• 
  Use the side Volume keys to scroll, highlight wipe dat/factory reset.
• 
  Once highlighted, press the Home key to select.
• 
  Another Android system recovery menu will appear.
• 
  Again, use the side Volume keys to scroll and highlight Yes -- delete all user
• 
  Then press the Home key to select.
• 
  A message will appear:
  
  --Wiping data….
  Formatting / data…
• 
  With reboot system now highlighted, press the Home key to select.
• 
  The phone will now return to the default settings.
• 
  And that's it! You'll now be able to perform a factory reset using the hardware buttons.
